While you are coping with tantrums, pouts and whines, it is very easy to overlook the fact that your young children have a lot of positive emotion. Like puppies, little kids are (with exceptions) cute, playful, and sunny… positive emotion, we learned in Chapter 3 from Barbara Fredrickson’s work, has consequences that are broadening, building, and abiding. Unlike negative emotion, which narrows our repertoire to fight the immediate threat, positive emotion advertises growth. Positive emotion emanating from a child is a neon sign that identifies a winning situation for the child and the parent alike…When a young organism (child, kitten or puppy) experiences negative emotion, it runs for cover – or, if there is no safe familiar location to hide, it freezes in place. Once it feels safe and secure again, it leaves its refuge and ventures out into the world. Evolution has seen to it that when young organisms are safe, they feel positive emotion, and they will reach outward and broaden their resources by exploring and playing.

Learn about Making Money

When I returned from Vancouver a small crisis arose in my life that I needed to deal with. Suddenly, all directions with the business was changed. I am thus reminded of my own mortality and also how people’s priorities are ALWAYS changing. Life changes. Love changes. People change.
I will still be shooting for $100 a day but I think I will start documenting this when this crisis is officially resolved starting at day 17.
Thanks for watching…

My Personal Life

3 days into my 1 week trip to Vancouver, my brother was already getting on my nerves. At first I was glad to see him. I was over-joyed to see him after so long. When I first saw him at the airport he had on a long trench coat and somewhat misplace shirt and his hair was the same. I greeted him and all went well. The next day we went shopping, and I did a makeover. I also demonstrated some sets and showed him how to talk to girls at the mall. He was really impressed. I wrote him a check for $600 for the week to cover his expenses of hosting me, although he wasn’t to thrilled about spending $330 on clothes at Zaras.
Anyway, my bro and I got along on day 1-2. I figured he’ll change eventually and if not, I can inspire him. I forgot how hard real change was (I took sometime too) and by day 3 my impatience got the best of me. I started thinking and noticing all the negative things about him: dirty, not clean, unclean room, white hair in places, smells bad (sometimes), badly dressed, forgets things, can’t drive well, not very smart (logically), made some big mistakes, thinks in negative patterns and always thinks its his fault. The list goes on. I am almost ashamed to say this but at one point I was thinking, “man my brother sucks he is so uncool. Shoot I have to spend a WHOLE week with him?”
That night I stayed up and sat against the frame of the bed and meditated. I thought about my brother and my situation and asked myself (and God) whether I was being fair to him. Read more

Learn about Making Money

Current run rate:
- Feb thus far ($600.50) - $20.02/day divided by 2 = $10.01 per day (enough for lunch!)
- Goal: $100 / day
I just returned from Vancouver after visiting my little brother. He’s got a lot of growing to do, but I do love him and wish him the best. I did everything I could and also we fought sometimes about stupid things, but that’s what brothers do.
On the way back I was reading Tony Robin’s Awaken the Giant Within and Ayn Rand’s The Virtues of Selfishness. The titles of these books don’t do them justice as the subject matter of both are much, much deeper. In the virtues of selfishness Ann discusses that idea that perhaps real selfishness is not having “self interest”, in always following a religion or behaving in a certain way that is not in adherence to our own code of conduct or personal morals. Instead, she argues that selfishness is a healthy thing. The pursuit of happiness is a worthwhile life goal and it is subsequently up to the individual to determine their own code, so long as this code is constructive and not destructive (criminals, taking another life, taking by force, taking the creation of others as opposed to creating something yourself).
Plan to get to $100 a day for myself: I’m thinking about this right now. I have 25 days left. Will reveal my plan soon. If I can’t do this in 25 days, I might as well not do it at all.
