Fallacy: If I improve with women, my friends will think I’m awesome!

Actually, for a short time, your friends will think you’re awesome. They may at first consider you weird, if you don’t go ALL OUT. However, you may start seeing success after a while, and your friends may offer congratulations.

Consistent improvement, however, and life changing behavior patterns, will put distance between you and your friends. After all, your views of the world and limiting beliefs are different. Oprah once said that when she lost weight she also fought with her larger friends – because her losing weight reminded them of their own weight still being high.

Here’s Tyler on why your friends may not find learning about pick up as awesome as you do:

People’s real behavior is observed in their real choices, and these real truths are sometimes hidden from the public. Learn to read through the social fabric. My coach once told me: think of the journey as you traveling along the desert. Occasionally a friend will come and walk the path with you, however in the beginning  and the end, you are always alone. Accept this fact, and take responsibility for your independence.

Style and Beauty at the Workplace: Do Good Looking Men and Women Make More Money?

Question: Do good looking men have it better in the workplace?

Answer:

Beauty is a big advantage in the bedroom, but it is also an advantage in the boardroom.

Although it does not approach racism or sexism in magnitude, lookism appears to be a form of discrimination in the workplace. And a silent one. No one thinks that has been offered a lower salary because he is short! Good-looking men are more likely to get hired at a higher salary, to be promoted faster than unattractive men – Nancy Etcoff

Despite physical limitations (height, facial features), style plays a big role in one’s stature at work. Of course, being lazy doesn’t help. Ultimately, a good work ethic and a mastery of your skill set will ensure proper and competitive employment at all times. All things being equal, the guy who looks the most masculine and in control gets the highest salary. Keep in mind that there are differences in company culture and we are speaking generally. At Google, for example, the geekiest engineer may control the higher salary.

Iconic Styles: Audrey Hepburn

My interest in biographies grew from two things. First, an exploration of what to do with my life, now at the age of 27 and secondly, what life was like for some of the most desirable men and women in the world. Audrey Hepburn’s biography (written by American biographer Donald Spoto) was one of style, class and giving back to the world.

With sharp contrast to Marilyn Monroe, Audrey grew stronger with each bout of hardship and tended to avoid and not trust the public and the media. In fact, it is her very nature to keep to herself and drew even more attention to her from the press. Marilyn, on the other hand, fell victim to depression, plagued by mental illnesses and getting lost in her fame and, despite her high earnings, was always in financial dire.
